(In response to a picture of a woman and man arm wrestling with the caption: Feminism says, "Compete with him, God says complete Him.")

Nowhere in the Bible does it say a woman "completes" man. In fact, Colossians 2:10 actually says, "You are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority." CHRIST is the One who completes us. Yes, Genesis does say it is not good for man to be alone... so God made a helper suitable for him. She is his equal... equal in value in the eyes of the Lord and they are to serve one another humbly in love. (Galatians 5:13) And the wife is to submit to her husband as he submits to Christ. I will never, ever get married unless the man I marry is completely surrendered to the will of God and doesn't want to break His heart. I would have absolutely no problem submitting to a man who submits to Christ because if he's yielded to Him... that means I'm getting an awesome deal!!!! I don't really consider myself feminist (even though I am pro-equality of the sexes) but I'm not entitlement-minded or man-hating, which is the bum rap that feminists have earned, as well as ignoring important factors when reporting statistics... and I'd rather not be associated with those few radical individuals who give feminism a bad name. Feminism, in theory, is a beautiful thing. It helped give women the right to vote and own property and hold down a steady job which is important for women like me whose husbands stopped following Jesus and abandoned their wives. So let's say for the intents and purposes of this comment that I'm pro-equality of the sexes. I believe a woman who is seeking to obey God and walks in love has equal access to all spiritual blessings in Christ. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). I did not like this status but don't get me wrong, someday I look forward to submitting to the headship of a godly man who puts Christ first in his life and me second. My ex abused the leadership Christ gave him and my marriage was quite literally hell on earth. One must be very careful with putting down "feminism." Not all feminists are crazy liberal psychos. Like I said, because of a few bad apples, feminism has earned a bad reputation, but at it's core, it seeks to remind us that in God's eyes, we are equal partakers of His holiness and joint heirs of His kingdom. Without the hard work of women who have gone before me, my life would be a whole lot harder and a look a lot different today. I am thankful I have the rights and privileges that allow me to continue being self sufficient and independent. I praise the Lord I did not live before 1850 when women were put into the same category as lunatics, idiots, outlaws and children.

Great read, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Feminism has such negative connotations because of all the radicals but I like to think of it in much the same way you do.

Totally with you.
Women have been treated unfairly throughout history and when Christians do the same it's not of God.
Ok to add you to my friends list?
Let me know.
